Description

The Generac A0000501971 Gear-Reduced Starter Motor is the current genuine OEM replacement for discontinued Generac starter numbers 0E9323 and 10000001020. It is designed for select air-cooled standby generators manufactured from approximately 2005–2006 onward, including compatible models rated 10kW and above.

This updated 1kW starter uses a compact gear-reduction design to deliver the torque required to crank the generator engine. If your generator originally used the larger 0E9323 starter, the replacement may look substantially different. The smaller appearance is part of the redesigned gear-reduction system and does not indicate that the wrong starter was supplied.

Important Design Information:

The A0000501971 may look considerably smaller than the original 0E9323 starter. Both configurations are factory-approved replacements and provide the same intended fit, form, and function. Do not determine compatibility based only on the starter’s appearance.

Heat-Shield Clearance:

Generac modified the nose-cone design where the starter mounts to the engine block. On a small number of applications, the nearby heat shield may interfere with the updated starter.

If additional clearance is required, the lower heat-shield fastener may need to be loosened so the shield can be repositioned. After installing the starter, securely retighten the fastener. This adjustment is not required on every generator.

Installation Information:

Disconnect the generator battery and all other power sources before installation. Due to the starter’s electrical connections and possible heat-shield adjustment, installation by a qualified generator technician is recommended. Follow the generator service manual and verify proper starter engagement before returning the unit to automatic operation.
